With new legislation passing at convention comes a more streamlined Operational Leadership Team structure for Omega Phi Alpha.

Over the past several years of the new structure and smaller Board of Directors, the organization has found that less volunteer positions and a shorter term commitment are the most sustainable. This year, we are combining or separating some of our functions based on our goals.

For example: collegiate membership and expansions are combining as both are rooted in recruiting collegiate members to the organization. We are doing the opposite with the former Cardinal Principles position and separating programs from service. We’ve noticed a large need for a service-focused leader to help foster a service program amongst chapters and alumni. As a service forward organization, we are really excited to build this position and see how it affects our collective service impact.

You may also notice that there is no longer an alumni membership team. This change is driven by member feedback and the fact that there is no such thing as “alumni membership.” Alumni of our organization do not currently pay dues to sustain their membership and all members who are activated and receive alumni status are considered lifetime members of the organization.

Our alumni have been very generous with their feedback over the last year and have overwhelmingly said that they want more programming and engagement. Moving all alumni positions under programs will allow for this change. The Alumni Transition Coordinator will take the place of the Young Alumni Coordinator and work to ensure that graduating seniors can connect to the national organization.

With a new structure also comes new opportunities for our members to volunteer on the national team. We are actively looking for active and alumni who want to make an impact on the sorority through a leadership position.

The following volunteer positions are currently open and accepting applications:

During the budget presentation at convention, we announced that we will continue to build our Chapter Health Program through additional paid contractors. More information is forthcoming.
