After Alyssa’s wonderful introduction during her transition announcement, I wanted to take the opportunity to introduce myself.
I am Macey Normyle. As the newly appointed Managing Director in Training, I am thrilled to begin this chapter where my professional experiences and personal values converge. When I say I’m thrilled to step into this role, it might be an understatement. From the outset, I do want to take a moment to express my gratitude to Alyssa, the Board of Directors, and the organization as a whole for the opportunity to serve in this capacity. Omega Phi Alpha holds a special place in my heart, and I am deeply honored to take on this role.
My roots in service and leadership were firmly planted during my time at Texas A&M University, where I was an active member of Delta Chapter. From my activation in Fall 2014 to my graduation in Spring 2017, Omega Phi Alpha was a core experience in my collegiate career. For three years, my week was defined by regular Monday evening chapter meetings, hours spent pouring into the community through service and an immeasurable amount of joy brought by the relationships built throughout.
The focus on service and leadership continued in my professional experience post-college. After graduate school, I found my way into the nonprofit world, building relationships through service across central Virginia. Since 2021, I have served as the Director of Operations and Finance for Lynchburg Beacon of Hope–an organization dedicated to supporting thousands of students to, through, and beyond post-secondary education, certification, and workforce training. Every day, I get to support students as they grow and develop their skills to be tomorrow’s leaders. As much as it has impacted my personal lens on life, I have developed a deeper understanding of the intricacies of nonprofit management and reinforced my passion for supporting others and serving the community.
As I transition into this role, I look forward to connecting with each of you, learning from your experiences, and working with each of you to continue to expand impact of Omega Phi Alpha.
