Hi everyone!
On Saturday, April 26th, Omega Phi Alpha will be hosting our second annual 5K event—O-5-K— on and around the BU Brain to raise support and awareness for Mental Health and Suicide Prevention. The event will kick off at 11 AM in front of the University Union, and this year’s theme is “OPhiA Runs Wild!”—so get creative with animal prints and jungle-inspired outfits!
This cause is incredibly important to us, and this year it hits especially close to home. One of our sisters recently lost one of her best friends to mental health struggles, reminding us just how urgent and personal this issue is. We’re committed to honoring their memory by taking action and creating a space for healing and awareness.
As Binghamton students, we understand how mental health challenges can affect not just individuals but our entire community. That’s why all proceeds from this event—through registration, donations, and sponsorships—will go directly to the Mental Health Association of the Southern Tier (MHAST), a local nonprofit that provides essential services, advocacy, and resources for individuals and families affected by mental illness.
Even if you can’t make it to the run, we hope you’ll consider donating to support this cause. Every bit makes a difference. You can also help us make a bigger impact by sharing our donation link with your friends, family, and networks. The more people we reach, the more lives we can touch. Let’s come together as a community to raise awareness, uplift one another, and make a difference in the fight for better mental health.
With love and gratitude,
The Alpha Phi chapter of Omega Phi Alpha
