My heart swells with gratitude and pride. Phi Chapter of Omega Phi Alpha at Arizona State University, my beloved alma mater, has generously supported The Arizona Pet Project, where I serve.
Remember that feeling when you joined Omega Phi Alpha? When you knew that this sorority would impact your entire life? Well, this gift from Phi Chapter embodies that moment for me, and how Omega Phi Alpha’s enduring mission and compassion for service joins us for life.
Within the hour of seeing this donation, I took to social media to connect with my fellow members and share this awesome news. That’s when I connected with Cassie English, Phi Chapter President, to thank her and her chapter for this incredibly heartwarming and meaningful gift to my nonprofit organization!
I beam with pride knowing my OPhiA sisters’ kindness makes a difference, even more so to the mission I care deeply about. Cassie English’s heartfelt words warmed my heart: “So honored and happy to get to support the work of an incredible nonprofit and one of our own Phi alum with our OPhiA fall formal!”
As Omega Phi Alpha Foundation Vice President, rediscovering service within the OPhiA community has been profound for me over the last two years. Reconnecting with my love for OPhiA combined with my experience leading in nonprofit work has felt like the best of two worlds colliding. Phi Chapter’s generosity completes this circle, reminding me that lifelong bonds, compassion, and collective impact endure against the odds!
To my fellow alum feeling the call to serve: don’t wait. There is never a ‘perfect time’ to start volunteering again. Act on your heart’s yearning. Realign with your purpose, and reignite your passion. Don’t know where to start? Explore volunteer opportunities through Omega Phi Alpha, then look locally within your own local community.
Phi Chapter’s philanthropy inspires so much hope, reminding me (and hopefully you, too!) that sometimes it’s our own past that revitalizes our purpose amidst life’s chaos!
Forever In Service,
