On Saturday, October 14, 2023, Omega Phi Alpha inducted the newest chapter of the sorority, Alpha Chi, at Marshall University with 12 founding members. After a year of hard work, recruitment, and preparation by the members, we are thrilled to congratulate the group on their efforts and chartering the 46th chapter of Omega Phi Alpha.
Alumni from across the country traveled to Huntington, WV to celebrate this accomplishment. Their ceremony was led by National President Brittany Thornton, VP Communications Nanda Jayaseelan, Expansions Coordinator Abigail Gillin, and Marshall Expansions Advisor Alexa Forbes.
Festivities kicked off with a group dinner at the Huntington staple: Backyard Pizza where many actives and alum shared cheesy sticks and brownie sundaes. Later, the night continued at the Marshall men’s soccer game (#1 in the country!) who won the match 6-1.
On Saturday, the day began with a round of introductions, a shared love of Tudor’s biscuits, and then a scavenger hunt! Actives and alum scoured Marshall’s campus in small groups for icons and hidden bees followed by lunch in small groups across campus. The afternoon wrapped up with a service project making friendship bracelets to be sold across campus as a fundraiser in support of the Malala Fund.
Finally, alumni and actives gathered to induct Alpha Chi and celebrate the newest chapter. Before dinner and a presentation by the chapter, Alpha Chi members rushed to grab their new sorority gear and proudly wear their letters! Alpha Chi was gifted many sorority items by members and chapters from across the country.
As Omega Phi Alpha continues to expand, we are proud to bring our mission of service, friendship, and leadership to college campuses across the country. Alpha Chi is one example of showing how bright the future is for our organization and we can’t wait to continue growing, engaging, and impacting!
