Omega Phi Alpha’s National Convention will take place July 14-16, 2022 in Fort Worth, TX. We are seeking proposals from members who are interested in facilitating workshops related to this year’s Convention theme Y’all Means All: Everybody is Welcome in OPhiA

One of the amazing things about our organization is the ability to learn from each other, network, and form mentorships! Sharing knowledge and experiences is a way to bond within the organization and help build tomorrow’s leaders. This is an opportunity for our members to do just that!

We are opening a call for workshop proposals from active and alumni members.

For our active members:

  • What have you learned during your involvement with Omega Phi Alpha that would benefit others?
  • Has your chapter done something out of the box that could help other chapters?

For our alumni members:

  • What have you learned personally or professionally during your life that would benefit other sisters?
  • Do you have a skill or experience that you want to share with others?

Put together a workshop proposal to be considered for a slot in convention programming. This is a great opportunity to develop leadership, public speaking skills, grow your resume, and share your expertise.

The convention planning team is specifically interested in workshops from alumni that center around a professional or personal development topic such as leadership skills, communication skills, career planning, personal branding, managing relationships, and diversity and inclusion. Workshops from active members and chapters can be centered around recruitment, retention, service, leadership, and diversity and inclusion. These lists of topics are not all inclusive, so if you have an idea that doesn’t fit into one of these categories, you can still submit it for consideration.

All proposals must be submitted by December 31, 2021 and contain the following information:

  • Workshop title
  • Workshop category
  • Workshop description (200 words or less)
  • Length of the workshop
  • How the workshop fits into the convention theme
  • What is the goal of this workshop? How will attendees be able to apply what they learn from your session directly to their chapter or life? (200 words or less)
  • What will you provide to attendees? – Presentation, handout, etc.

All active member proposals can be submitted on this form

All alumni member proposals can be submitted on this form

*Note: You must have an OPAportal account to submit your proposal. It is free and easy to sign up and allows us to have updated information for our members.

The ideal audience for your workshop should not be specific to those in leadership positions. The workshop should not exceed 45 minutes in length. The convention planning team will review all proposals and respond by February 15, 2021.

If your proposal is accepted, your convention registration fee will be waived (note: registration fees are not inclusive of travel and lodging).
