Amanda Lowry is an alumna of Nu Chapter and serves as an Omega Phi Alpha Foundation Board Member. At the national level, Amanda has served in a variety of roles including, chapter success coordinator, alumnae secretary, national leadership program director, and expansions assistant. She is excited to be a part of the Foundation Board of Directors to help develop its capacity to best serve the active chapters.
Amanda received her BS in Aerospace Engineering, an MA in Comparative and International Education, and a PhD in Learning, Cognition, Instruction and Development specializing in Mathematics Education. Professionally, she teaches high school mathematics to English learners in New Jersey. She also is an adjunct professor at local colleges. She has published research on the effects of the transitions between educational cultures on adolescent immigrant students and other issues pertaining to the teaching and learning of mathematics for this population.
Personally, Amanda enjoys hiking, reading, sewing, and spending time with her family.
